Key field marks to observe for adult male: Eyes/face = red Legs = tan Thorax = plain, brownish-red Wings = mostly clear, black veins Abdomen = red w/black spot on top of segment 9
Magnified look at adult male: Face/eyes are red Legs are tan Thorax has no pattern and is brownish-red
Adult male wings: 1) Clear with black veining, small amount of orange-red coloration on wing bases 2) Stigma are red
Adult male abdomen: 1) lacks black triangles on sides. All red except for... 2) black spot atop segment nine.
Adult female, duller than adult male: Eyes/face = red Legs = tan Thorax = plain, brownish-red Wings = mostly clear, black veins w/orange-red bases Abdomen = brown w/black spot on segment 8, 9
Adult female face: Eyes mostly red Face reddish-yellow Legs tan Wings have orange-red bases
Adult female wings: 1) black veining on clear wings with smidgen of orange-red at bases. 2) stigma colored red
Adult female abdomen: 1) mostly brownish-red 2) dark spot atop segment 8 & 9 3) yellowish subgenital plate (scoop-like in form)
