Atamasco Lily (Zephyranthes atamasca)
This wildflower can be found in the southeastern part of the U.S. growing in moist woods, clearings and meadows (Brandenburg 2010). Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center notes it is typically in flower around Easter. This plant is placed in the Amaryllis family which exhibits linear leaves, growth from a bulb with symmetrical and bisexual flower arrangement. Wildflowers of Alabama highlight flowers changing from white to pink with age. It is a beautiful plant especially with many plants growing close to one another, carpet of color 😉
